News in our world is overwhelming with politics, tragedy, dissension, and hope. If you prefer for this Friday Five, you may write about any of the current affairs that you are thinking about.
However, I suggest that you look at your life at this moment, right now, TODAY:
1. What are you thinking about?
2. What book are you reading or have just finished reading?
3. What is your favorite television or radio program?
4. What was the best movie you have seen in the past year?
5. Who do you think of for Father’s Day?
I hope you’ll join us in today’s Friday Five! If you do, please leave your blog’s address in a comment below.
The events in Charleston . . . one of those days for which I might rewrite my sermon . But I need to follow through on what we’ve planned, so I’m thinking about how to alter what I’m saying for what I need to get the congregation to do. My Friday Five represents the beginning of my working through that.http://metanoia-mrc.blogspot.com/2015/06/political-participation-friday-five.html

1. At this particular moment, I am thinking (a) how much time have I got to drink this cup of coffee before I absolutely have to go and brush my teeth, etc. and hit the road, and (b) how my son is doing after a surgical procedure yesterday morning.
2. I feel a little guilty throwing in this title because we have just moved into a new home (meaning my reading time has been sort of sketchy of late), but I am working on The Girl on the Train (strictly delving into a read that has zip to do with clergy woman activities).
3. Game of Thrones (I thought about lying outright here, but . . .)
4. Movie? There are movies out there?
5. Today I am thinking about my dad. My mother has been diagnosed with lung cancer this month, so we are involved in the paradigm shift that my mom may die first. This has NEVER been on the family table before. I ask for prayers for my folks, Betty and George.
Blessings to all this long, long day of Summer!

Marcia, my dad has just been diagnosed with lung cancer as well. Second time for him, but his last wife died of lung cancer, so I am all too aware of the variations of this disease. My dad is doing the testing this week needed to discern his options. Prayers for both of us and our families.
