O God,

We remember where we were when we heard the news.

We remember the first time we saw the pictures.

We remember the sounds of crashing steel, screaming, keening grief.

We remember the shock.

We remember the falling man, the rescued friends, the close calls.

We remember the dead- in body and in spirit.

We remember the lines to feed, to help, to comfort.

We remember when we saw this happen in other places.

We remember the ones sent out avenge and the cost in bodies and psyches.

We remember the reality of terror that is at home in other places.

We remember that we were prayed for, held, helped.

We remember when others have called out to us with the same need.

We remember that we are not alone.
We remember that we never have been.

We hope you'll join the conversation!
