Holy Christ,

There is so much I could be praying, wailing, crying, fuming, screaming about today.  This. World.   How do you love it? Love us, love others, just love?

The questions are exhausting.  The heaviness rests in the ache of my shoulders.

So, for now, I take a few minutes to rest, to exhale a big whoosh through the tightness in my muscles and my stomach and my heart.  I close my eyes…and I remember how you took the time to simply be, to pray, to hold children close,  break bread.   In my being-time, I watch a cat prowl across the street from my window, and listen to the clonks of the radiator cutting on, and rest my head near the snoring sleeping dreaming dog next to me, inhaling her Frito corn-chip scent.

Holy Christ, hear my prayer.  Amen.
