Sabbath is easier when
Tag, and Chase, and
Hide and Seek
distract us from the burdens
and anxieties
of the day-to-day.
Which makes me wonder,
Mother God,
why I resist your invitations
to play?
When you play chase with the wind,
Tag with the raindrops,
Hide and Seek with dappled sunshine,
Why do I focus more on worry
(on busyness and its status)
than on keeping these
Sabbath moments?
Chase me again, beloved mother.
Call me to play.
Remind me of the rest you promise,
that you didn’t hesitate to take.
Open my heart to your joy,
Open my ears to the whisper
the patter, the silence
which calls to me:
“Tag, you’re it.”
Love this:)! Caroline/Women and Infants
