Friday Festival Time!

The Wednesday Festival has become The Friday Festival!  Change!  And so, without further ado, a little of this, a little of that:

Gillian is a priest and psychotherapist living in Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I wanted to check out her blog, Gillian’s Island, and discovered a heartwarming story about a fawn rescue and . . .  marvelous photographs on other pages.  Look around!

More animals?  Cicadas are a thing in France, and the symbol of Provence. So says Becky, whose prodigal kitty brought her a gift during the night.  There might be a deep meaning to this story – or the lesson might simply be to remember to close the cat door at night.

Amy writes about her conversations with The Rev. Dr. Olav Fykse Tveit, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches. Convinced that the future of the church lies in interfaith work, and doing quite a bit of it herself, she is in awe of his task: to bring together 350 different world communions.

I’m not sure whether this post has already been highlighted ~ I try to stick to the immediate past week and to avoid duplications ~ but I think it’s an important one.  Amanda writes about the nightmare of cyberstalking, the consequences, and the journey of healing she’s taken.  It hasn’t been that long since most of us emailed and blogged under pseudonyms and, while we enjoy the freedom of being ourselves online,  not everyone responds to that freedom with respect and kindness.

And (and this one just showed up in the e-reader, but it’s important, too): in recognition of the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11, Rachel writes about mercy.  Not anger, not retaliation, not vengeance. Mercy.
