this day you gave us will claim us in bits and nibbles,
in the buzz of a new text,
in beeping phones and shiny screens.
A little solitaire while we wait for a friend,
a quick order, a bite of the latest news.
and the day fills.
Help us, we pray, to claim the empty spaces as a gift,
to keep a margin for ourselves,
to leave room for you.
Teach us to glean our time
and harvest the quiet places.
Still our fingers and our minds, we pray,
so we can listen for a word from you.
In the name of the One who gives peace, Amen.
