Oh, Lord- candle

For people with eyes swollen from crying, we pray

For people facing untenable choices, we pray

For people who struggle under immoral regimes, we pray

For people exhausted by a week of searching for work, we pray

For people who are caught in a trench between pay days, we pray

For people caring for children and parents, we pray

For people whose dreams have been deferred by others, we pray

For people who make the right choice and are shamed for it, we pray

For people who are making plans to peddle hate and lies, we pray

For people who cannot perceive the intrinsic biases they live out, we pray

For people wrestling with a manuscript, we pray

For people whose yoke has grown too heavy, we pray

For people who are laughing and celebrating joy, we pray

For people who have received amazing grace, we pray

For people who feel blessed beyond a hashtag, we pray

For people who were innocent and have been released, we pray

For people who work on weekends, we pray

For all those who have read this far and still can add to the list, I pray.

Lord, hear our prayer. And, in your mercy, answer us.

Amen.
