God, Lord, Buddy,
We need ya.
Everything is on fire.
The winds and rains are swirling again. Policies are shifting and courtrooms churning.
My neighbors are afraid.
And I’m supposed to plan a budget.
Write a curriculum.
Teach about peace and justice and love and hope.
But the whole world is pulling and burning and threatening and raging.
Send help.
Send relief. And strength. And wild, courageous people. Send small little moments. And massive, culture-shifting movements.
Change all of this.
Change all of us.
Change me.
Make us more like you.
Fill us with your Words. Tell us your jokes. Guide us to your liberation. Nudge us into action. Protect us from danger. Protect us from fear. And help us to love.
Oh, how we need ya, buddy.
Be near tonight.
