Saturday Prayer: A Prayer from Psalm 46

Holy, Compassionate, Comforting, Empowering God,

You are our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Let us not fear, though the earth quakes;
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
though its storms bring death and devastation.

God of peace and power, you are with us;
God of our ancestors, you are our refuge.

For you are the living water, O God,
whose streams make glad our towns and cities.
You are in our midst—within us and among us—
and we shall not be moved.
You will help when morning dawns.

God of peace and power, you are with us;
God of our ancestors, you are our refuge.

Come, God, to grant your order to the chaos
in the wake of earthquakes, storms, and floods.
Come, God, to grant your protection
to those in the path of the storms.

of our racing minds, our pounding hearts,
that we might speak your holy words
