Monday morning far too early.

I arise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes…
Another day.

Today I am on the road again,
Travelling, exploring, vacation days with a good friend.

Yet I am aware, only too aware, that others are on the road not through choice but necessity
Keep them safe O God.
Keep them safe.

While we have fun and adventures, others are trying to make fun out of an unwelcome adventure. Packed up. Rolled out. Huddled. Battling the elements and not knowing when it will end, or what will remain when the storm blows over.

Holy God,
Keep your children safe.
In fire and earthquake, hurricane and surge,
Empower those who can, to help and rescue.
Encourage those who can’t, to pray, to listen, to pray some more.

And remind us. Again.
That you have us safe in the hollow of your hand.
Amen
