Awed or exasperated, grieving or hurried,
striving for calm, or just exhausted,
we let out a long breath, and take in another.
And in the breath, Dear God, we gratefully breathe in your spirit,
and the brooding, soothing, creative, fiery wind of your presence comes into us again.
So often we take this breath and don’t notice,
and so we pray that you would stop us today,
and allow us to be awed again as we breathe in your very spirit.
For the gifts of energy or calm, pause or renewal, that come with each deep breath,
for the lifting of heart and lungs again to you, the One who made us,
we give you thanks,
praising you with each breath we take. Amen.
