I wish I could be that little lamb in your arms, brother Jesus,
or even the one by your side.
Such bliss, such safety, such absence of fear.
Actually, I really wish the world could be in your arms like that,
right now, and know it dear brother Jesus.
The people devastated by hurricanes and earthquakes and war and gun violence and white supremacy and so much beyond.
The hateful discord, the lack of trust, the ill will of spite.
I imagine you brother Jesus,
in the fields of this world,
lamenting as well,
your face, streaming with tears,
your arms empty, reaching, searching.
Mercy.
Amen.
