Well, God,
not sure how much I am feeling “it” today.
Whatever “it” is, I am not getting it on.
So, I pray anyway. Not because I am holy, or connected in Spirit, or even engaged in it, but because I can. I could just sit here and blather on,
or, I could just sit here and let you speak, but then I would have to listen.
I left my listening ears at home today. Unfortunately.
I really just want to watch YouTube videos of pitbull puppies and hedgehogs going camping. I really just want to eat another peanut butter filled with chocolate cookie here at Starbucks. I also wouldn’t mind to knit, just a few rows. But I pray anyway. Because I can. I can type my small surface thoughts, skating around my mind, grazing my heart at its edges, even as my fingers itch to hit a new window in Safari and feast on scrolling through shoes on Zappos. But I pray anyway, because I can.
I pray, because I must.
Because
I need saving,
especially from myself!
God in your infinite mercy,
Amen
