In the frantic, scattered days of too much: breathe in, breathe out.
In the quiet of mornings about to break: breathe in, breathe out.
In the space wrapped close in embrace: breathe in, breathe out.
In the cacophony of reverberating joy: breathe in, breathe out.
In the gurgle of brooks and the rustle of leaves about to release: breathe in, breathe out.
In the anguish of heartbreak: breathe in, breathe out.
In the silence of becoming: breathe in, breathe out.
In the offering of service: breathe in, breathe out.
In the hush of the dying: breathe in, breathe out.
In the suspension of belief: breathe in, breathe out.
In the moment, the day, the epiphany, the anticipation, the everything: breathe in, breathe out.
In the fullness of all that is, and was, and will be, and may never be: breathe, breathe, breathe…

Anne Fraley is rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in South Windsor, CT. A life-long dog-lover she escapes the demands of parish life volunteering for animal rescue groups. She occasionally succeeds at reviving her blog at reverent irreverence.
