A prayer for one who is having surgery.
Blessed be God,
source of life and goodness,
present with us now.
Blessed be your body,
receiving healing
from the hands of the surgeons,
in medicine swallowed,
in the love of family and friends,
in breathing and being.
Blessed be your body,
persevering
in seeking truth,
in receiving grace,
in practicing kindness,
in working for justice.
Blessed be your body,
this body
that knows pain and fear,
knows work and rest,
knows trust and love.
Blessed be your body,
graced and gracious,
loved and loving,
yielding and rising,
true and strong.
Blessed be your body,
in the healing,
in the living,
in the being and becoming.
Amen.
