Brigid was the abbess of Kildare is significant as a saint to the Irish people. Little is known about her life, but the legends and stories about her portray her as holy and compassionate, with a deep love of the poor. She died about 525.
We thank you for our sister Brigid,
and for all who those who have loved you
and gone ahead of us.
Make us, like her, holy.
Strengthen in us your compassion.
By your Spirit may we grow
in wise kindness
and kind wisdom.
We pray with all our sisters through the ages,
and in the name of Jesus.
