Life and Truth,
Guide and Friend,
Power and Love,
Take this ego of mine,
My need to get it right.
My need to do it best.
My need to control how it goes.
My need to follow the rules.
(And succeed. And win.)
My sense of accomplishment
That comes from doing it all right and best and how I am supposed to….
Take it from me.
Take it all.
Help me to get lost in wild, bold you.
Help me unfurl into radical love.
Help me break free into bold witness.
Help me snap loose into humiliating belief.
Help me surrender to completely unpredictable trust, un-credited service, and silly, reckless, wonderful hope in you.
Take what I thought I wanted.
What I thought I needed.
What I keep thinking I am.
And pour in its place-
What you love.
What you hope.
What you need.
What you do and are and share and are creating.
(Inspired by the Lectionary Gospel reading for this Sunday, Mark 2:23-3:6.)
