For the twelve Thai boys and their coach rescued from the depths of the cave;
for cave divers, engineers, medical personnel—all 10,000 people who participated in the rescue;
for their fathers and mothers holding their sons in their arms today–
Gracious God, we give you thanks.
For the thousands of children separated from their parents at the southern U.S. Border;
for parents desperate to find out where their children have been sent;
for lawyers, social workers, and others trying to help bring families back together–
Holy One, we pray your peace and power.
For my friends whose daughter is starting day four of her chemo round;
for my friend whose nephew just died in the hospital after a brutal robbery and beating;
for my friend, looking with love at his new-born son–
Gracious God, we pray your peace and power.
For your crying out as a woman in labor;
for your lifting us as infants to your cheek;
for your longing to hold us as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings–
Holy One, we give you thanks.
