God,
I have some offerings for you today.
You probably don’t particularly want them,
but I know you don’t want me to have them.
So,
I offer my resentments
for the things I have to do for others
for the things no one is doing for me
for how early I have to get up, even on weekends.
I offer my stress
about saying or writing the wrong word at the wrong time
about having everything lined up and ready to go
about the world going to you-know-where in hand basket.
I offer my selfishness and my grudges,
my exasperation and my anxiety.
It’s an ugly and unwieldy offering, God.
But I trust that somehow your altar can hold it all
and your holy fire can transform it
into smoke of mercy,
ashes of grace.
Amen.
