I know we are supposed to “pray always.”
I know that almost anything can be a prayer if it has intention, including sewing, climbing a tree, drinking a coffee, washing a dish.
I know the Heartspace You occupy within my deepest being.
I want to supplicate unceasingly.
I want to implore persistently.
I want to storm the heavens with all of my thoughts and feelings and fears and hopes and discouragements.
I need a little break from the frenzy.
I need a little space…
to walk without intention,
to drink a glass of water without remembering my baptism,
to read a People magazine without insight.
You promise to pray when we cannot.
You promise to hear all that is unarticulated
and wrenching with pain or bursting with joy.
I am leaning in to that Promise.
