God, our Mother and Father

finding love along the way

Christ, our Friend and Brother
Holy Spirit, Comfort and Challenger
Thank you for the many beauties of this day
For the wonder of creation and the turning of the seasons
For bodies that breathe and move
For the opportunity you place before us
To gather in community.

So often we come before you with
our bitter complaints
keenly aware of all the ways we
have been forsaken,
yearning for some far-off eternal life

For today, fill us to overflowing
with the boldness required to kneel before you.
Grant us the peace that comes with gratitude and
the courage required to move past
our easy complaints, and uneasy daydreams,
to receive the goodness and mercy you give so freely.

Amen.
