God of all spaces, all boundaries, all borders:

We look upon the lands that are yours. Many of our ancestors inappropriately deemed the territories theirs, forgetting that you built this world yourself and purposefully neglecting that others lived on the land. They’ve captured creation, hoarded it for their own self-interest, and excluded or oppressed many living on this sacred gift to humanity…

…and we keep feeding into systems which continue this legacy.

Forgive us.

Forgive us when we turn our heads towards colonialism and honor “heroes” who have made this sin possible.

Forgive us when we keep our mouths closed to the Powers-That-Be who demand the exclusion of your children from our land.

Forgive us when we neglect the stories of others who have no privilege or try to impose our version of their history on them.

Forgive us when we speak instead of listening.

Forgive us when we create language or situations which keep our siblings across the world or wall as “other.”

Much work is left in front of us in order to heal this world. Humble our hearts and give us courage to speak for justice and mercy in our wounded world.

Amen.
