Colonial Echo 1981

Holy One,

There is nothing in my yearbooks
to convict me of being
the ignorant girl I once was,

but let me not insist that
I was better than I was
or knew more than I did.

Let me not rest easy in the
knowledge of your forgiveness,
or wallow in repentance so personal
that it makes no difference in the world.

Instead, with your help,
may I work to make things better.
