On that day, suddenly, the atmosphere changed, and things became clear; Jesus became clear, dazzling, divine. (1)Sometimes we go up the mountain
like Peter, James, and John, unwitting.

We follow, obedient,
or just along for the hike,
but we have no idea
where you are taking us.

We reach the summit huffing,
a bit tired from the climb,
and survey the view,
wondering why we are there.

On that day, suddenly,
the atmosphere changed,
and things became clear;
Jesus became clear,
dazzling, divine.

In such moments of clarity,
we try to hold on
to understanding,
to inspiration,
to revelation.

You have never changed,
but we can see you differently now.

Coming down the mountain is harder.
bringing what we know with us,
wondering how to share it
with the people who knew us before.

Travel with us, O God,
as we bring the good news
of your love for all people,
to all people.
