Spirit of Calm and Chaos…
In these moments before our Lenten pilgrimage begins, we take a look at our dusty world-
Where active shooter trainings are reality,
Where middle-age icons die of strokes,
Where our youth can’t see themselves in the ways you see them, and our powers-that-be can’t see the image of God in our neighbors who are marginalized.
Where the frequency of lies told by our leaders outweighs the encouraging words uttered to those they lead.
Even in the midst of this spiritual dust bowl, we know that in between the particles of dirt, you abide. As the winds kick up and we can’t catch our breath, you are breathing for us.
May this season be one in which we find easier ways to abide in the dust storms and deserts.
God of Chaos and Calm, you are with us.
Amen.
