Last night I snuck a giggle.
The day was long and my body was weary.
My heart overwhelmed and my spirit enraged.
Too much news, too much death, too much greed.
Emotions on high and solutions seeming distant.
And from nowhere, from somewhere, (from you?) it was there…
A little giggle.
A tiny funny.
It wasn’t wise or thoughtful or brilliant.
It was cheap and very silly.
But it made my belly shake,
and my jaw un-clench,
and let my lungs breathe big.
And my spirit remembered-
Even in all this, there is release.
Even in all this, there is laughter.
Even in all this, you are always there.
(Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.)
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
so that my soul may praise you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever.
