I used to think,
if they really knew me,
(if you really knew me)
they’d know I’m a fraud.
A mess.
A fool.
A mean, ugly disaster.

But in these years of getting to know you better,
and of letting you know me,
I’ve found
such relief
in knowing you know me
and love me, still
and forgive me, still
and call me, still.
And I have found
the freedom
in being known.

Thank you for knowing me.
Thank you for calling my name.
Thank you for loving me.
Still.

Amen.
