I write…
I paint…
I draw.
Recording God’s handiwork, reflecting my imperfect vision.
The sights and sounds that surround me, show me the master’s hand.
Birds and insects, trees and fields,
People’s voices, muted, observing each other’s work, encouraging and affirming.
Precious, Holy, thank you for that gift of leisure
on this Monday in May.
In other places hard work is being done.
Voices speak out,
Supporting the innocent, declaiming injustice, affirming righteousness in word and deed.
When I am hesitant give me persistence
When I am fearful grant me courage
When I am desolate bring comfort
When I am angry help me to focus that anger
When I am blind show me your truth
And in all things, Precious Friend,
Walk by me, in action and in leisure,
In sadness and in joy,
This day, and all days,
Amen
