Oh Lord,
Blessed are the nice people,
The listening people,
The smiling people.
Blessed are those
Whose hearts break with yours,
Who carry your protest signs when you give up,
Who link arms in solidarity.
Blessed are the exhausted people,
The discouraged and broken people,
The preyed-upon.
And Lord,
Blessed are your ministers,
Your prophets and artists,
Your pastors and teachers,
Your chaplains and preachers
Who are any and ALL of these blessed people
And still pour out love
And hope and joy
To the blessed and hurting people.
Amen.
