I know what I have done.
As soon as my words left my lips,
I responded out of hurt.
I responded out of my woundedness.
I responded out of defensiveness.
I was not loving.
I was angry –
Correction!! I am still angry!
Forgive me for my selfishness,
my lack of control,
my desire to hurt another as they had hurt me.
Show me where my actions must change.
Rid my life of these noxious weeds called pride, envy, self-righteousness, and entitlement.
Weed it it out of my life like I destroy the poison ivy in my garden.
Help me mend the fences,
till the soil in our mutual field of ministry,
and find ways to make thing right
By your mercy,
By your grace,
Through your Spirit.
