We come to you this morning
with all of who we are,
and all of who we are not.
We bring our broken hearts,
our raging souls, our doubting minds
and lay them out for You to see.
We know we haven’t done enough,
and at the same time we wonder what else can we do?
We bear witness to the rejection of mercy and the scorn of grace,
and we despair.
In our very depths,
we are hopeless,
and deeper down,
we dredge up hope.
With sagging but not deflated will
we prepare your banquet,
we lay the table with the finest we have.
We send Your invitation everywhere we can think of.
We gather, we sing,
we taste Life, we drink Compassion,
for a precious moment of eternity we are renewed.
And then, we pack up the beauty of the meal
and share it
with those who couldn’t make it
to the table,
because that is what You call us to do.
May it be so.
