Word Made Flesh,
Today, we pray for our bodies:
For our tired feet,
Our aching knees,
The hips we somehow threw out of joint in our sleep.
For sore shoulders
Twingey necks,
And fingers too stiff to move comfortably.
We pray for relief from headaches,
From stuffed noses,
From sore throats,
From relentless nausea.
We pray for these bodies that insist on rest
Even when we think we need to keep going.
We pray healing from the
Viruses, bacteria, diseases
That hold us back and wear us down.
We pray for the pounds we think we should lose–or gain.
We pray for our bodies,
Believing that somehow You, also,
Have been flesh and blood and bone;
Believing that You care for every part of us—
Even the painfully, awkwardly physical parts.
Remind us God, that we are fearfully and wonderfully made,
And hear our prayer.
Amen.
