God,
We thank you for our family and friends—even the annoying ones;
And we pray for those who feel lonely in this season of connection.
We thank you for the structures we live in—down to the ugliest carpet and the creakiest floorboards;
And we pray for those experiencing homelessness.
We thank you for our phone calls and meetings and services to plan;
And we pray for those who feel aimless and without purpose.
We thank you for the sorrow and anger we feel when we think about the state of your world;
And we pray for those who do not notice or care.
We thank you for clever puns and snarky asides and each and every smile, giggle, and belly laugh;
And we pray for those who have no sense of humor.
In this season of holidays and holy days, O God,
Give us gratitude.
Give us grace.
Amen
