God of the Smiles and Eye Rolls-

Oh we’ve had “a day”
Life seemed a bit off,
And our bodies ached a little too much.
Our to-do list was left unfinished,
And the phone call we were to make… well… it wasn’t.
The blog post was completed later than expected,
And the visit must wait until tomorrow.
Twenty-four hours are not enough-
And, yet, they can be too much.

For the items left undone, we ask for grace.
For the tough tasks to face tomorrow, we ask for strength.
May our bodies be well and minds sharp.
And may our souls experience you in each step.

Amen.

  1. Thank you so much for this wonderful prayer. It’s exactly the prayer I needed to hear for this day. You have captured so powerfully and so sensitively the ‘truth’ of many of our days as of those in ministry. I smiled and raised my eyes in a show of strength and courage for the days ahead in this week still to come. Thank you for your words of honest and pastoral blessing from one who ‘knows’.
