“The Incredulity of St. Thomas” by Caravaggio (1601-2)

Resurrected and Resurrecting One,

As we lament the solemnity of this year’s Easter,
As we long for lost in-person celebrations,
As we grieve over ill, broken, and dying bodies,
As we struggle with our own anxiety while trying to ease everyone else’s–
remind us that your disciples cowered behind locked doors;
remind us that even the most faithful had their doubts;
remind us of your still-wounded resurrection flesh;
remind us of your breath that breathes now as it did then:
“Peace be with you.”
May Your peace be with us.

Amen.
