two dogs cuddle up at my feet.
I try my hardest to allow their joy, innocence, exuberance fill me too.
But, it seems, the realities of other things creep in to overwhelm them…
Reality is: doors shut.
Reality is facemask in public.
Reality is distrust, fear, irritation, frustration…
not with the restrictions, but with those who put their convenience over my safety.
I remind myself, (over and over, over and over, over and over) they too are your beloved children.
I look at my dogs, cuddled up… joyful, innocent, full of love.
I hand it to you.
For you have this. Even when. Especially when. I do not.
So long as one of us does, I guess, all will be well.
hear this rambling prayer… and every other rambling prayer I make,
today, and tomorrow’s today too.
