There’s a song we sing in worship. About God coming to turn the world around. About hearts singing and justice fires burning. Burning… About God delivering us from the conqueror’s crushing grasp. About justice tearing tyrants from their throne. TEARING THEM. The song remembers that Jesus said not a stone will be left on stone. The song remembers how Mary’s soul cried out, how God made her smallness big, how God did and does lift up the lowly. The song reminds us that God’s mercy lasts and lasts and lasts. The song reminds us that the turning is going to be A MESS. And still, the song reminds that our hearts will indeed sing. The song demands we wipe away our tears, for God is bringing this time near, and God is turning this world around….

And so today, I sing, and I remember, and I pray,

God of power-

Turn our world around.
Turn our world around.
Turn our world around.
