God of wholeness, take us, we ask, not back to any kind of normal
where we forget the gains won by bodies in the streets,
ignore again the cries of outrage, and pooh-pooh courage in tennis shoes.
Take us past our chosen ignorance,
our sneaky use of privilege, our unequal burdens.
Shape us instead, we pray, into something new, yet longed-for,
using a hope so wild, so far beyond our experience,
so unaccustomed
that we know it must be your work. Amen.
