God of truth,
Lead me to wise and honest news sources. May I discern well among the bombardment media.
God of justice,
Open my ears to the voices of people who are too often silenced, who need to be heard. Let me listen well to those who are different from me.
God of joy,
Show me where You are at work in every situation. Even as my heart grieves, may I also find hope and feel gratitude for the powerful ways Your spirit is moving.
God of grace,
Assure me that I do not have to know ALL OF THE THINGS. Let me trust that I am part of your body and allow others to help carry the weight of information.
God of compassion,
Accept my reading—my attention—as earnest prayer. Every name I encounter, every situation I learn about, all the heartbreak and injustice and violence I see written down I in turn lift up to You.
God of mercy,
Hear my prayer.
