It’s a week of abundant abundance, no matter which Old Testament stream you follow. Are you wrestling with God right now, as Jacob did? Or are you hearing Isaiah’s call of welcome to the feast of God’s people? Paul weeps for his “kindred according to the flesh” who seem to have missed out on the abundance God intended for them, and the gospel story of Jesus multiplying bread and fish highlights God’s generosity toward all who are willing to receive.
Perhaps the RCL post for this week can inspire your sermon-writing, and Worship Words can help with other parts of the service. Not following the lectionary? Let us know where your summer preaching is taking you in the comments! The Preacher Party is on!
