Behold the “empty” cat dish.

written to accompany a sermon on Isaiah 55:1-5

God of Overflowing Love,

We confess that we doubt that all that you offer us as your children will be “enough.”

You offer us an abundant feast when we whine for crumbs.

You invite us in with open arms, and we stay close-hearted.

You show us a love that would quench our deepest thirst, and we search elsewhere for acceptance.

You offer a grace that will fill any hunger, and we want to keep our lives under our own control.

Holy One, draw us in and show us the love that will never let us go. May we learn to love you and others as we love ourselves.

Amen.
