This is a prayer
for all who wake needing courage this day:
For the one whose landscape has been impacted
by tragedy or disaster;
For the one who has to say or do a hard thing;
For the one who will show courage by walking away;
For the one whose courage looks like trying a new thing.
This is a prayer
for all who wake needing perseverance this day:
For the one who is writing the final draft of their thesis;
For the one who is filling out another piece of paperwork;
For the one who is making another decision in the shifting Covid-19 landscape;
For the one setting out on a course of treatment.
This is a prayer
for all who wake needing kindness this day:
For the one whose self-talk is quick to jump on every flaw;
For the one who is alone and feeling disconnected;
For the one who isn’t sure about deserving kindness;
For the one whose service is taken for granted by others.
This is a prayer
that hopes in the possibility
of people having enough of what they need.
This is a prayer that hopes in the possibility
of courage, and perseverance and kindness
changing the world.
Amen.
