God of Alertness,

As we wake from sleep or need a midday pick-me-up, we ask for blessings upon our coffee.

On this International Coffee Day, we offer our gratitude for the harvester of beans, the workers in factories, the deliverers of beans and the baristas in cafés. May we move to a world where the workers are fairly paid and working in safe conditions. With every sip of our beverage today, we send blessings for their efforts.

God, allow us, as a world, to find ways to safely enjoy “getting a cup of coffee” with friends again in this Covid realm. May we never take for granted face-to-face time with friends.

Thank you for waking us this morning, for the coffee we will consume today, for a future with hope, and for the aroma of coffee.

Amen.
