The leaves are turning –
yellow, orange, red.
There’s a chill in the air
invigorating, inviting.
The beauty of the earth
belies the anxiety in humans,
so much fear, so much to fear.
Take a deep breath,
inhale, exhale.
Lean into the hope,
the love, the trust,
the compassion,
the mercy of God.
We do not need to be
the anxiety we feel.
We can be the good.
We can be justice.
We can be hope.
We can be mercy.
We can be compassion.
We can be love.
With God’s help.
Amen.
