Six more months of masks, no gatherings, no hugs. No, wait, maybe nine more months of quarantine. Or even twelve months until we can go out again, or be together.
God, it’s hard to know what lies ahead in our COVID world. Our hopes feel far off, and the memory of our lives before this are dim, dimmer each day. Did we use to have friends? Chat with strangers? Go out without hurry to get home? We pray that you would cultivate hope in us, we pray. Change our hopes from the small to the transcendent, from the near to the far horizon. Nurture different and yet still strong hope in us, as you keep us turning toward you, and to each other. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
