Dear God,
Not even a contentious US election can keep the sun from rising anew
As we await results, please–
Cause peace to rise up in our spirits and kindness in our conversations
Continue to draw out determination and hope for the shift this nation needs
Compel decision makers to ensure all votes are counted and that the voice of the people is heard
Collude with those on the side of justice and love as strategies are developed and put in place
Conquer and dismantle white supremacy and the choke hold it has on our electoral politics
Create within us a renewed commitment to your vision of the beloved community
Dear God,
It is morning, and we yet await the joy that has been promised
We have not given up!
Like the sun, your people are ready to rise with power and promise
It ain’t ova!
Amen.
