LORD help me to shovel lightly.

May distractions and other obligations not deter me from regularly moving the snow, Like the matters of life that fall without warning.

May I see the pileup as it comes, And respond to each notice with swiftness and intentionality.

Help me not let the messiness of life grow so that it is all the more difficult to move. Moving little-by-little lessens the overwhelm and heightens the practise.

Give me motivation to dress and go outside in the storm, And shovel away every few inches, Making light work of an unavoidable task.

May I accept the regular effort that builds habit.

May these habits form to reinvigorate me.

May I find refreshment in the cool air, the crisp breeze, and the task at hand.

May I embrace the systematic routine, the day-to-day, and the monotony of removal.

As the pileup of all that I face collects along the side, make this path clear. Guide me on a secure and safe way. May this journey be my joy, As I learn to love to shovel lightly.
