This Lent, O God, our thoughts are muddled.
We wander from grief to rage to distraction to hope, our thoughts moving as fast as our fingers move from app to app. Dare we hope that a brighter future is coming? Dare we believe that we will be able to live through our layers of grief? Dare we even think about hugging loved ones again?
Still, we dare not forget. We dare not forget the carelessness that allowed so many to get sick. We dare not forget our losses. We dare not forget the injustice revealed to us…again.
Bring us, we pray, into the quiet, empty realm of Lent, and let us breathe deeply of your presence, until breath becomes solace. Bring us into the space where grief and hope live together, fed by our connection with you. Bring us, at last, into your peace. Amen.

A challenge for me to try to hold some empty-for-the-sacred somewhere.

Needed this today! Thank you! May I use it in my sermon on Sunday – we pre record and then it goes on our church website via YouTube.

Hi Heidi — Definitely. I think the formula is to credit RevGals as the source. Blessings to you!
