As we begin to settle in for the night
We give thanks for this day
smiles along the way, steps towards justice on the journey
We ask for forgiveness for love withheld or moments of othering
allowing fear to lead and insecurities to distract
As we surrender for the night
We pray for those without a place to rest or food to eat
We pray for those who are incarcerated or isolated and alone
We pray for girls who have been snatched from families and villages
We pray for children taken from their families and unaccounted for
We pray for loved ones dying alone
We pray for the unknown
We pray
and we rest
Trusting in your care, God
Knowing that tomorrow the work of prayerful action continues
Amen and amen
