A Blessing for Thursday Night

Maybe there’s a place,
where the couch cushion dips just so,
and you can feel the heat kick in,
and you tuck your feet under that ratty old blanket,
and for a moment,
you rest.
Not for too long, of course,
because there are still dishes to do,
and white supremacist systems to battle,
and a whole congregation to care for,
and a neighborhood to love,
and holy crap, Holy Week…
But for a moment,
allow yourself,
to rest,
and in that place,
listen to the wind, or the rain, or whatever the weather is doing where you are,
listen to the sleeping creature by your side,
listen to whatever sound finds your ears when you pause
in that precious space between the inhale
and
the exhale.
And let God find you,
and snuggle in there.
Just for a moment.
In that precious place,
know that God’s love
is really
really
with you.
Do not forget.
God’s love is with you.
Yes,
you.

Amen.
